Overview

The Hyatt Vivid Grand Island is a unique property with a distinct appearance and vibe. This adults-only, all-inclusive resort targets young adults seeking a relaxing and engaging vacation experience in a down-to-earth setting.

The high-rise building is unique, comprising two resorts: the Vivid Grand Island, which opened just over a year ago, and the new Dreams Grand Island, a family-friendly resort slated to open in late 2025. The resorts are physically connected via a rooftop terrace but operate as separate entities. However, this connection allows guests attending weddings at Dreams Grand Island to participate in ceremonies and receptions at Vivid Grand Island if the bride and groom choose to do so.

Every detail of the Vivid Grand Island has been carefully crafted to reinforce its bohemian chic style. The resort's 400 Mayan-inspired suites are well-appointed, featuring neutral earth tones with a pop of bohemian flair. The 10 onsite restaurants amplify the vibe with trendy offerings like Fresco Ceviche, Le Lys (gourmet French cuisine), Aglio (wood-fired pizza), and Vivid Bites (poolside food truck). There are six bars in total (two swim-up), each embracing the chic, upscale, laid-back theme. The main lobby even features a Moet & Chandon Champagne vending machine (extra charge).

Activities

The resort offers four pools, including an amazing rooftop pool with stunning sunset views, accessible only to Vantage Club guests. Days can be filled with a wide variety of activities, including;

  • yoga

  • meditation sessions

  • beach volleyball

  • pottery classes

  • wine/tequila/mezcal tastings

  • outdoor fitness center

  • golf

  • evening fires at one of the three large fire pit areas

  • lazing around on one of the many hammocks found throughout the property

Wellness is a key focus at Vivid, full spa treatments are available and can even be preformed outdoors to be closer to nature.

Location

The resort is 15 minutes from Cancun airport and is situated between the Nichupte Lagoon and the Caribbean Ocean. While it does not have direct beach access, one side of the hotel offers ocean view rooms with exceptional sunset views, and the east side offers golf course views with the hotel zone in the distance.

Beach Club

Although the resort doesn’t offer direct beach access, the Vivid Grand Island has its own private beach club, Ennea Grand Island Beach Club. Shuttles to and from the beach club run every 15 minutes throughout the day, and the ride takes about 10 minutes. The Ennea Beach Club offers a white sand beach, its own pool, snack bar, restaurant, and a full bar.

Final Thoughts (and My Totally Subjective Rating System)

  • Hyatt Vivid Grand Island: ★★★★★ (5/5)

I was really impressed by this property. It would be perfect for young couples, weddings, or even smaller corporate retreats. The great thing about the Hyatt Vivid Grand Island is that it knows what it wants to be, and if that's your thing I'm sure this resort would be perfect for you.
